TEXAS WINERIES WIN BIG AGAIN IN SAN FRANCISCO

Back in November, Texas wines won numerous awards at the San Francisco International Wine Competition. The recent 2020 San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition received nearly 6,700 entries from over 1,000 wineries from the United States, Canada, and Mexico. This is the largest international wine competition in the USA. Over 65 judges from a variety of fields representing various North American wine regions completed the judging on January 10, 2020 to determine the best wines in the North America Continent. Bob Fraser, Executive Director of this Event, says, “The response from the wineries of North America at our 2020 competition was outstanding.” Seven Texas Wine s earned BEST OF CLASS distinctions and include:
• Brennan Vineyards – 2015 Viognier – Comanche County
• English Newsom – 2018 Roussanne – Texas High Plains
• Longhorn Cellars – Brindle Blend – Texas
• Lost Draw Cellars – 2018 Marsanne – Texas High Plains
• Messina Hof Winery – 2017 Paulo – Texas
• Perissos Vineyards and Winery – 2017 Aglianico – Texas Hill Country
• Spicewood Vineyards – 2017 Tempranillo – Texas High Plains
In addition, Texas wines earned 16 Double Gold Medals, 34 Gold Medals, 147 Silver Medals, and 65 Bronze Medals for a total of 269 Medals and BEST OF CLASS distinctions. A list of medals earned by Texas wineries is summarized below:
