• Wine Rendezvous Grand Tasting and Chef Showcase at The Woodlands Waterway Marriott Ballroom where acclaimed chefs compete for the coveted Chef of Chefs Waterford Crystal Award and a $5,000 cash prize. Patrons will taste the same foods as the Culinary Judges taste and evaluate. This dressy event is an event to “dress to impress” while enjoying the very diverse array of foods and wines. People have been seen at this event with their tuxedos and Stetsons! This world class event is for all with wine stewards and winemakers available to answer your questions.
About 500 different wines from all over the world will be available during this week of wine. This vast array is there for the wine newbies and the sophisticated. The only requirement is for you to enjoy the wines and yourself while learning more about wines with your likes and dis-likes. Take a diary with you to jot down your appraisals of this diverse group of wines and foods while enjoying your senses with friends.
Wine dinners will be added as the June 1st. week approaches so you should be on the outlook for these upcoming wine dinners held at local restaurants. Husband-wife duo, Constance and Clifton McDerby started this huge, week-long event 22 years ago as a dream. Sponsors like H. E. B. continue to sponsor this culinary delight. Each year the event becomes bigger and better with portions of the original week of wine and food moved to the Fall since the outdoor Wine Walk is better suited to the cooler weather. The size has outgrown Market Street so last Fall it was moved to the treed areas of The Woodlands Resort. Tickets for this event are being snatched up so get your tickets now with friends in order to look forward to this wonderful wine week. Tickets are now available online at www.WineandFoodWeek.com.
Texas Restaurants Serving Texas Wines
Honor Café in historic downtown Conroe boosts several Texas wines on its wine menu and priced very nicely. Owners Chris and Mandy Sadler honor those who served and still serve in our Military along with first responders. The Café is a museum of American Military history and a great purveyor of Texas wines such as Messina Hof and Bernhardt.
