SPRING BRINGS WINE TRAIL EVENTS

Texas has 19 Wine Trails to welcome you to enjoy special wine tastings, concerts, overnight stays, and more in the Spring. The weather all over Texas is bringing the greenery out, making March and April with pleasant temperatures luring you to wineries throughout the State of Texas. These wine trails include:

• Dallas Town and Country Wine Trail – North Texas
• Driftwood Wine Trail – Driftwood, TX
• Dripping Wine Trail – In and Around Dripping Springs, TX

The oldest wine trail is the Texas Hill Country Wineries which started in 1999 and has grown to 63 wineries in 2023. There are over 120 wineries in the Texas Hill Country, but only 65 wineries have qualified to become a member of the Texas Hill Country Wineries. This wine trail experiences over 2,020,000 tourism visitors during the last calendar year and that was at the end of the pandemic. These wineries provided jobs for over 141,000 with annual wages approaching seven billion dollars. These economic numbers are very impressive, but what is impressive is what happens during the entire month of October at these 63 wineries. The Wine and Wildflower Journey runs from March 27th to April 21st. Tickets are available online at www.TexasWineTrail.com. Wine tastings are limited to four wineries per day so you can savor each wine with your friends. These wine tastings should normally run about an hour and a half. I suggest taking a picnic lunch and/or dinner with you consisting of cheeses, deli meats, and assorted breads/crackers.
The Sam Houston Wine Trail consists of eight wineries in the Conroe-Huntsville area. The Trail Wineries will hold a traditional Blessing of the Vines in the next several weeks with information to be provided in upcoming wine columns.
The Rotary Club of Conroe is hosting a “Wine and Beer Tour” of the Lake Conroe Area for the month of March. Tasting are available at Bernhardt Winery, H-Winery, Cork This Tap That, B. E. Winery, Frankenboltzzzz, Hodge Podge Lodge, West Sandy Creek Winery, Fass Brewing, B52 Brewing, The Ferm Meadery, Copperhead Brewing, Southern Star Brewing, and Old Oak Taphouse, Tickets are $50 per adult and available through www.LakeConroeRotary.org.
