WINE HELPS CHARITIES

Wine Helps Charities
Wine is meant to be shared, especially when it comes to charities. The Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo with its Rodeo Uncorked Events have raised millions of dollars to help Texas youth. This Saturday evening brings one of my favorite wine charity events to The Woodlands/Montgomery County area. Beginning at 6 pm, come join me for a wonderful evening of wines from all over the world which benefits Bridgewood Farms, a place for Special Adults. After a hiatus during the pandemic, this event comes back stronger and better raising badly needed funding for programs to enhance the lives of Special Needs Adults and their Families. The charity wine event is titled “Around the World in 180 Minutes” featuring wines from twelve different wine regions. Patrons enter the “point of entry” at Saints Simon and Jude Catholic Church facilities at 26666 Glenn Lock Drive in The Woodlands. Patrons receive a special wine tasting glass, a wristband identifying you as either a regular Patron or First Class Patron who is of legal age to enjoy wine and a special Passport. This Passport is your special document to help you as you tour wine regions from five different continents. Each page will provide you with information on a specific wine region. When you arrive at each wine region, your Passport will be stamped to show you have visited that wine region. I encourage you to travel to all twelve wine regions to sample the wide portfolio of wines. Wine regions represented at this event include:
• Australia/New Zealand
• California
• France
• Germany/Austria
• Greece
• Italy
• Northwest USA
• Portugal
• South Africa
• South America
• Spain
• Texas
This is not your usual wine tasting adventure, but it is a travel through twelve wine regions featuring the grape varietals that made each wine region famous. I will be there to answer your questions on wine. This event is oriented to provide a huge diversity of wine types and grape varietals.
One of the featured wineries is the first winery in Texas established after Prohibition ended. Bill Freidhof from Llano Estacado Winery will be at the event to guide you through the unique Texas wines that made Llano Estacado into one of Texas’ largest wineries.
The featured wine region this year is Greece with its history of winemaking. This wine region has a wide range of wines from sweet dessert wines to classic Greek red and white wines. Explore the roots of our wines as you casually sip on these Grecian Classics.
Finger foods will be provided to pair with wines from the twelve wine regions. Don’t forget to visit the silent auction items as you help to ensure the financial legacy of Montgomery County’s oldest non-profit organization still in existence. Patrons are $100 per adult with a pair of First Class Travelers providing $350.00 per adult couple. Tickets are available either online at www.BridgewoodFarms.org or www.LocalWineEvents.com for the Houston region. Tickets will be higher at the door. Free onsite parking is available at the site. Bring your friends and travel through five continents containing 12 wine regions.
