TEXAS WINES EARN MORE BRAGGING RIGHTS

Texas Earns More Bragging Rights
Texas Wineries competed in the San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition recently with results published on January 19th. There were over 5,500 wines from wines regions across North American. Texas wineries came out of this national wine completion with 275 medals. Texas Wineries also earned eleven Best in Show for different grape varietals and one in label design. These “Best” included:
• Chateau Wright Malbec 2020
• Christoval Vineyards Montepulciano 2020
• Eden Hill Vineyard Red Blend Tempranillo 2021
• English Newsom Dry Riesling 2021
• Grape Growers White Blend
• Haak Vineyards and Winery Gewurztraminer 2022
• Haak Vineyards and Winery White Native American/Hybrid (Dry Blanc du Bois) 2023
• Scott and Cellar The Goat Zinfandel 2022 (packaging)
• Spicewood Vineyards Semillon 2022
• Texas Heritage Vineyard Carmenere 2019
• Texas South Wine Vineyard and Winery Sweet Red
• Wedding Oak Winery Tempranillo 2021
Those Texas wines earning BEST in Show for their respective wine classes beat out wines from California, Oregon, and other States in the United States. To add to their recognition, Texas Wines earned 24 Double Gold Medals, 61 Gold Medals, 137 Silver Medals and 41 Bronze Medals. Double Gold Medals are only awarded when every judge on the judging panel agrees this wine is of Gold Medal quality. This is rare since not all wine judges will totally agree. Texas wines continue to improve in quality with more Double Gold Medals and Gold Medals than last year’s results in the same wine competition even though fewer Texas wines were submitted to this west coast wine competition. Silver Medals earned by Texas Wineries in this year’s competition were more than triple of the earned bronze medals. It is exciting to see such strides are being made in quality and recognized by such wine competition events such as the San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition. Texas Wineries have earned their bragging rights. A list of Texas Winery Medals is attached to this article.
