Texas Earns More Bragging Rights
H. E. B. Grocery Stores with less than 900 stores in Texas is now the largest retailer of food in the United States, according to Dunnhumby retail Price Index. They have outsold retailers like Amazon, Wal-Mart, and Costco, along with Kroger’s and Albertson’s. H. E. B. is also Texas’ Number One Retailer. Does that make them Number One in the USA?
Texas Wineries competed in the San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition recently and came out of this national wine completion with 317 medals. Texas Wineries earned twelve BEST in Show for different grape varietals. These BEST included:

• Becker Vineyard 2018 Primavera (red grape blend)
• Cedar Hollow Winery and Vineyard Amarone
• Driftwood Estate Winery 2022 Dry Rose (blend)

• Driftwood Estate Winery 2019 Alamo Red (red blend)
• English Newsom 2021 Viognier
• Messina Hof Winery 2018 Sagrantino Paulo
• Perissos Vineyards and Winery 2021 Picpoul Blanc

• Reddy Vineyards 2020 Tempranillo
• Starla WinesNV Sparkling Rose
Besides earning BEST in Show for their respective wine classes beating out wines from California, Oregon, and other States in the United States, Texas Wines earned 22 Double Gold Medals, 46 Gold Medals, 165 Silver Medals and 72 Bronze Medals. Double Gold Medals are only awarded when every judge on the judging panel agrees this wine is of Gold Medal quality. Texas wines continue to improve in quality with Silver Medals earned by Texas Wineries being more than double of the earned bronze medals. It is exciting to see such strides being made and recognized by such wine competition events such as the San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition. Texas Wineries have earned their bragging rights.
