Spring into Wine Events at Local Texas Wineries
The Spring weather has been outstanding with a Texas heat wave scorching outside activities in May. This weekend has several wonderful events at our local Texas Wineries. Let’s start with the 40th Annual Wine and Roses Festival at Messina Hof in Bryan. Enjoy three days of fun winery experiences. Enjoy Messina Hof’s Spring Wine Dinner tonight from 7 to 10 pm. The wines and the foods will be bountiful and amazing this evening. Saturday bring a full day of local vendors with fun competitions of grape stomping starting at 1:30. All of the team slots have been taken, but you can root on the teams of grape stompers, watching ever so careful to see the tricks of the trade so you can organize your team for next year. One of the tricks is to clear and keep the drain hole at the bottom of the stomping vat open for the juices to flow fast into the juice vat! Enjoy guided barrel tastings with second generation Paul M. Bonarrigo while his wife Karen hosts special garden wine tastings. Paul will help you better understand how barrel aging can impact the taste of your wine. Karen brings foods and wines in a garden setting. From noon to 5 pm, enjoy a five hour come and go Italian Feast in the award-winning Vintage House Restaurant, overlooking the vine yards at Messina Hof. Sunday is a pet-friendly day with dogs and their parents enjoying a wonderfully, leisurely wine-sipping day. Pets must be on a leash and all solid discharged bagged and tossed in the round receptacle. Saturday and Sunday is also wine-judging of the various art works by Messina Hof Winery patrons. Wild Stallion Vineyards will host a tribute concert for Queen on Saturday Evening, starting at 4:30 with wine and food sales. The concert starts at 6 pm. Wild Stallion Vineyards is located on West Rayford Road, west of Gosling Road in north Harris County. The concert is located a few hundred feet north of their vineyards. Enjoy the wines and the vineyard concert at Whitley Vineyards north and west of Montgomery. Their vineyards is one of the nicest you will find in Texas. This woman-owned winery will host a two-hour Sunday afternoon concert starting at 3 pm featuring Jimmy Joe Long.
